Flash-based Computer Adaptive Testing
Componica has created an algorithm for computer assisted testing which can tests a user using only 20 or 30 questions but with the accuracy of a test that uses hundreds of questions, similar to systems used by standardized testing companies. The program is fashioned into an online Flash-based system.

Questions are adjusted to a user’s response. The questions become easier or more difficult depending on how the user answers questions. By doing this the test does not have to have hundreds of questions to get the accuracy of a test consisting of hundreds of questions.

The testing has the potential to be beneficial in many different areas. One big area is applying the test for rapid assessment of potential employees. Another area of application would be to use the test in specialized forums to determine the user’s expertise in that area.
